Legacy 1
Carrying compost up to the allotment area on the 7th floor.
I did this journey many times. The bottom stairs are 15, 10, 11 and 10 steps. The side one is 21 steps. The main internal ones are 3 steps then 4 steps to each knob on the bannister. It helps to know these things when you do it at night when you can't use a torch. |

Planting onions at 3.30am
The noise is water tapping down into the improvised watering system I set up with pipework from the room. |

Checking over the allotment.
I have since planted new salad leaves, mixed salad and endive in the bare area to the left. The salad was coming up, but either endive takes a little longer or it wasn't going to take. I'll never know. |

Legacy 2
Launching the first boats into the sunlight.
They may look very cute, but there's something else going on here. Not all of them row very well, and many are susceptible to being sunk by their neighbours. Very competitive behaviour. |

Legacy 3
Powered by a golf buggy battery. I was going to bring a solar panel in to recharge it, but you've got to stop somewhere.

A surprise with D on the roof.

Getting Out
It's 6.45am. It took me 12 hours to get all 200 boats in and then plant up the radishes and chillis. I had to get out of there quickly as London Pleasure Gardens workers would soon be arriving on site - I knew there was already someone on the Spirit of Chartwell but I didn't know where, so I didn't hang around on the parapet opposite it.
I also knew the main security guys were very much about - 10 minutes before this I saw some of them parked on the sand in their 4x4 blocking the only way out, but when I got to that point I couldn't see where they'd gone. I hated being so exposed in the open. I was very lucky to get out without being caught. |
